Brother Scan & Cut
This class is for those who want to learn how to use your Brother ScanNCut to create an applique project.
We will learn the basics of:
- scanning a paper pattern on the ScanNCut
- making cut files in Brother Canvas Workspace
- creating a machine embroidery file using Embrillance Software
- cutting prepared fabric for applique on the ScanNCut
- finishing your applique on your embroidery machine

| Requirements: | You will need to bring: - Brother ScanNCut (no other cutting machine will work for this method) - 1 Brother Scanning Mat (if you don’t own one, we have one you can “try before you buy”) - 1 Brother Cutting Mat - Laptop computer or Macbook - Embrillance Software downloaded and accessible on YOUR laptop (Embrillance works with virtually all machine embroidery software – not just Brother/PES) - Embroidery Machine and 5x7 or 6x10 hoop • Embroidery Machine must be able to accept a file transfer from a thumb drive • Brother Embroidery machines can do this wirelessly - Basic embroidery & sewing supplies o pins, scissors, sewing and embroidery threads in various colors (or the shop will have threads for purchase!), o full bobbin for your machine – white We will provide: Quilt shop FULL of fabrics to choose from to make your project! | Instructor Bio: | Cindy Craigen has loved fabric crafts for over 50 years. Her first “solo” applique project was a monogrammed recorder case complete with ric-rac trim and Velcro closure when she was in the third grade. Now days, Cindy prefers to use her Scan n Cut and embroidery machine to complete such tasks! Whether quilting, making clothing for her grands, bag tags or other accessories, working “smarter, not harder” is her goal. Sharing knowledge to help others enjoy the “I DID IT” feeling makes Cindy happy. |
